National Minimum Wage Increase

Please note that from today (1 April, 2020) the rate for the National Living Wage (NLW) and the National Minimum Wage (NMW) will increase.

Please ensure your employees now meet this criteria:

National Minimum Wage

As a side note, just what is the National Living Wage (NLW)?

When signed into law in 2015 at the start of tax year, NLW required anyone over the age of 25 (but not in the first year of an apprenticeship) to be paid a minimum of £8.21 per hour.  Confusingly, the NLW was just a renaming of the NMW and not directly linked to the UK cost of living.  Regardless of the terminology, please ensure that non-apprentice employees over 25 years of age are now paid at least £8.72 per hour from today!
